"Be still and Know that I am God."
Ps. 46:10

"Centering Prayer as a discipline is designed to withdraw our attention from the ordinary flow of our thoughts.  We tend to identify ourselves with that flow.  But there is a deeper part of ourselves.  This prayer opens our awareness to the spiritual level of our being...That level is not immediately evident to ordinary consciousness.  Since we are not in immediate contact with that level, we have to do something to develop our awareness of it.  It is the level of our being that makes us most human.  The values that we find there are more delightful than the values that float along the surface of the psyche.  We need to refresh ourselves at this deep level every day.  Just as we need exercise, food, rest, and sleep, so also we need moments of interior silence because they bring the deepest kind of refreshment."

Who We Are
Contemplative Outreach (CO) Ltd. was founded in 1984 by Fr. Thomas Keating, OSCO as a non-profit organization working to renew the contemplative dimension of the gospel.  Contemplative Outreach Greensburg (COG), commissioned in 2005 is the Westmoreland County area chapter of CO Ltd. located in the rolling hillside of southwestern Pennsylvania.  Sr. Margaret Ann Calcutta and Judy Molter, who have a combined experience of over 25 years in Centering Prayer (CP) have served as Co-facilitators of COG since its inception.

Our Mission
The primary mission of COG is to support the work of CO Ltd. in renewing the Christian contemplative tradition through the practice of CP.  With time and practice, CP deepens our relationship with God and bears fruit in our everyday lives.  We encourage and support persons who are drawn to CP and the contemplative tradition of the church.

Our Vision
We share the vision of CO Ltd. of recovering the Christian contemplative tradition through CP and with emphasis on Silence, Service, and Solitude.  We also share the vision to rediscover the Word of God through the complimentary practice of Lectio Divina.  We hope to reach across Christian denominations in our common search for God and share in the gift of creation with the whole human family.
